Find Out How To Verify a Vehicle’s MOT History & Mileage Using a New Government Website
When you’re shopping for a used car, it’s likely that the MOT history and mileage of any cars that catch your eye will be one of the first things you want to find out more about. A new government website makes this easier and more reliable than ever before: you can check a vehicle's full MOT history and get the odometer reading taken at the time of the MOT online in a few simple steps.
This function is available here: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
- you’ll just need the make and registration number of the vehicle you want to find out about. It’s worth noting you will only be able to access the results for MOT test done from 2005 onwards in England, Scotland or Wales.
Once you’ve entered the make and reg number, you’ll be able to see the full MOT history of the car and the mileage reading taken during each test. If the car failed at any point, you’ll be able to see why, as well as any advisory information on worn parts and tyres and corrosion. That means you can make a fully informed decision on choosing a car that’s right for you.
If you have any more questions about verifying the history of a used car, our friendly and reliable team here at Wheatley Car Centre
will be happy to advise.
