Your car needs a little bit of love after the cold and dark winter months. Dirty roads have left your paintwork in a bit of a sorry state and your car in general will have taken a bit of a battering throughout winter. We have some top tips for you to make sure your car is ready for summer, and that all important summer holiday!
Check your tyres
Your tyres are the one component of your car that are in constant contact with the road. During the winter the road surface regularly changes, be it wet, icy, snow filled, you get the idea! Over time this will wear down your tyres and it’s a good idea to make sure they’re in tip top condition to take you into the summer months. It is important to check your tyre tread, pressure and to make sure there aren’t any cuts or bulges that could pose a potential problem. Head over to our handy tyre check guide to make sure your tyres are road safe.
Check fluid levels
You’ll use windscreen washer fluid more in winter than in any other season. Make sure your windscreen wash is topped up, we’d also recommend keeping some in the boot of your car so you can top up on the go! While you’re under the bonnet make sure you check your oil and coolant levels too, these are vital for the smooth running of your vehicle so top them up if needed. We have a guide on how to check your oil level if you need.
Don’t forget to give a little love and care to your paintwork, especially if you have neglected it a little over winter! Roll up your sleeves and get out there with a bucket and sponge, it may take a little time to get off all the winter grime but it will be worth it when your car is gleaming! Make sure you vacuum out the interior too and pop in a new air freshener!
